Doohamlet GFC Notes

Seniors: Doohamlet Seniors continued their pre season preparations with another game against Armagh side Carrickcruppin. This was a very competitive game and Doohamlet played very well and secured a victory by the narrowest of margins. Greg Duffy, Glen Comiskey and Shane McManus were very impressive throughout but Jason McElroy continues to impress at corner back. A number of positions are still up for grabs and with the new season only a matter of weeks away competition at training will increase.

Junior B’s: Our Junior B team recorded their second victory in this competition last weekend with a comfortable 2-09 to 0-06 win away at Tyholland. Mark Murphy, Gavin King and Chris Malone were very much to the fore as was Johnny Duffy who looked very impressive when introduced. Gavin Duffy has been a revelation this season and has turned in two Man of Match performances for our Junior B team to date.

Fixtures: Our Junior B’s are again in action this Saturday away to Donaghmoyne with a 4pm throwin.

Congratulations: Big news this week in Doohamlet was the birth of baby Shay McManus son of Shane and Ciara and no doubt a star of the future in the Blue Jersey.

Juveniles: Our U12 team begin their league begin their league campaign on Saturday next with an away fixture to Blackhill, throwin 3pm. Six players from Doohamlet were chosen on the Clontibret Parish Community Games team, the six chosen were Daniel Connolly, Cillian Walshe, Darragh Ruddin, Joshua Mone and the Markey brothers Sean and Ciaran. Well done to you all and we wish you well in your competition.

Referee’s Seminar: Referee Administrator Jim O’Rourke has organised a Seminar for New Referee’s in the Hillgrove Hotel on Tuesday 23^rd March at 8pm. Any potential new referees from our Club are asked to attend this seminar.

County Jerseys Incentive Scheme: Anyone with an old Monaghan Jersey can exchange their old jersey at the Monaghan Supporters Club stand at the Monaghan v Derry game on Sunday next and receive a voucher towards the purchase of a new Investec Monaghan jersey at a reduced cost.
